SKIN CONDITIONS

Eczema

Eczema is a medical condition where skin develops redness and itchiness. Eczema is often confused with and referred to as dermatitis. If you have a family history of allergies or have asthma or hay fever, you are more likely to have eczema.

Causes & Treatment

Eczema is usually caused by an external irritant like soaps or cosmetics. Your cosmetic surgeon may do a patch test to ascertain the cause of your eczema. The symptoms include scaly skin that is red and itchy. The most common areas that are affected by eczema are neck, knees, face, ankles and elbows.

At Advanced Aesthetics, our cosmetic surgeons will assess your condition and prescribe a suitable ointment. If you have painful itching, you may be given tablets to manage the inflammation.

Contact Dermatitis

Contact dermatitis refers to a medical condition wherein the skin gets swollen and rashes appear over an area that comes in contact with external allergens. When this happens, the body’s immune system gets active and pushes the white blood cells into the skin. This process lasts over several days and results in inflammation of the skin with rashes.

Causes

Contact dermatitis can be caused due to irritants or allergens. It is recommended to consult a dermatologist as soon as you notice rashes, redness and inflammation of the skin. It can usually be cured medicinally.

Lesions

A lesion is a skin area that is different from the adjacent skin. Lesions can be in the form of a mole or a lump or even sore skin. Lesions are usually benign and don’t pose any threat to life. However, they can be unpleasant to look at and may impact an individual’s self-confidence about their appearance.

Acne

Acne is a common skin disorder affecting adolescents and adults alike. Acne can be recurrent and can leave behind damaging scars. Not only does it affect the physical appearance of an individual, it also impacts their self confidence.

Treatment

At Advanced Aesthetics, we use the “Selective Destruction” method for managing acne. A radio-frequency device with micro-insulated needles targets the precise layer of skin at the exact depth where the sebaceous gland is located. This prevents epidermis from being damaged in the process.

The biggest advantages of RF micro-needling as a treatment choice for acne are the elimination of damage to the epidermal layer of skin and quick recovery.

Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis refers to chronic excessive sweating and can severely impact your day-to-day life. This condition can affect your underarms, feet and palms.

Symptoms & Treatment

Symptoms vary according to the type of hyperhidrosis.

Primary focal hyperhidrosis leads to excessive sweating in equal halves of the body. This condition is not a result of another medical condition and usually sets in from childhood. Primary focal hyperhidrosis does not occur while you are sleeping.

Secondary generalized hyperhidrosis leads to excessive sweating as a side effect of an underlying medical condition or a medicine being used. This type of hyperhidrosis can affect you in your sleep as well. The sweating is not localized to a particular area like palms, feet or underarms. Secondary generalized hyperhidrosis results in more generalized sweating.

Treatment

Our cosmetic surgeons at Advanced Aesthetics can assess and help cure your hyperhidrosis. The treatment varies with the type of hyperhidrosis. From counselling to prescription of antiperspirants, we can manage your condition holistically.
